2000s Football Draft
Galácticos, catenaccio's last great sides and the treble chasers. Draft from the decade when European football's money arrived but its tactics hadn't yet converged.
The era
The 2000s were football's loudest decade. Real Madrid assembled the Galácticos as a deliberate act of theatre, Milan answered with a midfield nobody has matched since, and English clubs spent the back half of the decade filling Champions League semi-finals. Tactically nothing had settled yet — a side built on a deep-lying playmaker could beat one built on two banks of four, and the following week it would go the other way.
Among the squads you can land on: Barcelona 2005-06, Manchester United 2007-08 and AC Milan 2006-07.
This pool is the playable half of a decade. The 2000s era page covers the same squads as a reference — every side, what each won, and the clubs and countries the decade belonged to.
How it drafts
The most varied pool in the game. You can draft a functioning XI three or four entirely different ways here, because the decade's squads were built to different blueprints rather than to one consensus. Good pool to learn the draft on.
The wheel only ever serves squads from this pool, so all 14 of them come up often enough to matter — the whole point of narrowing it. The strongest player you can land on is Ronaldinho (96), and the best XI the pool could theoretically assemble averages 93.2. You will not get that XI: you get whatever the wheel gives you, one squad at a time, and you have to build around it.
Runs in this pool count on the global leaderboard exactly like any other — there is no scoring penalty for narrowing the wheel. See how a run works if you haven't played before, or start from the top of the football draft game.
Free, no sign-up. The pool is already selected.
