The greatest squads of the 2020s
Nine squads, nine different clubs — the only decade here where no club appears twice, and the only one still being written.
The decade
The current era, and the most spread out: City's treble, Chelsea's second title, Real Madrid's fifteenth, PSG's first, and Napoli, Leverkusen, Liverpool, Inter and Arsenal all here for seasons of their own rather than as anyone's supporting cast. England has four of the nine. The newest squad in the entire database is Arsenal's current one — the only side in the draft whose season has not finished, and so the only one whose page has no trophy line at the top of it.
Where the squads come from: England (4), Italy (2), France (1), Germany (1) and Spain (1). The highest-rated player of the era in this database is Erling Haaland (95), and 11 different players across these 9 squads are rated 90 or above.
Drafting the 2020s
Ratings here mean something different from anywhere else in the database. Every other squad is rated as its players are remembered; these are rated as they are now, which is why the decade has fewer players above 90 than the 2000s or 2010s despite being the modern game. De Bruyne and Haaland at 93 are the peaks, and below them the squads are flat and deep — the closest the draft comes to picking between equals.
This decade has a draft mode of its own: The 2020s narrows the wheel to exactly these squads, so every spin lands in the era. Runs in it rank normally — narrowing the wheel carries no scoring penalty.
However you narrow the wheel, the run itself is the same Champions League draft game: an XI built one spin at a time, then a league phase, two-legged knockouts and a final.
Free, no sign-up. The wheel can be narrowed to this decade.
