The club, season by season

The run starts in 1997-98 with the club's first European Cup in thirty-two years, won by a side organised around Redondo and settled by Mijatović. Two more arrived within four seasons, the second by the Galácticos team of Zidane, Figo, Raúl and Roberto Carlos. Then a decade of waiting and La Décima in 2013-14 — the start of a stretch that took four titles in five years — and, ten years after that, another under Ancelotti with Bellingham and Vinícius carrying it. Four decades, six squads, more of both than any other club in the draft — because no other club kept coming back.

The most familiar wheel in the game: whichever era it hands you, the same names keep returning.
